Walter Blick is a NYS licensed occupational therapist, NYS licensed massage therapist, certified craniosacral therapist, and mind/body health specialist with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
Walter has undergone extensive studies in advanced manual (hands-on) therapy based on the osteopathic philosophy including CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute, Visceral Manipulation through French osteopath Jean Pierre Barral's institute and Myofascial Release with John Barnes PT. He is a teaching assistant for the Upledger Institute. Additionally, Walter completed a 2.5 year, 700 hour certification in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Michael Shea, PhD and advanced biodynamic trainings with Katherine Ukleja, DO and Roger Gilchrist, MA, RCST. To further understand the effects of stress and trauma on the body, Walter completed a 3 year training in Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing (a body based approach for stress reduction and trauma resolution). This model informs his work with stress and nervous system disorders. Walter works primarily with the nervous system, stress related disorders, pain syndromes, and pediatrics including: fibromyaligia, chronic fatigue syndrome, MCS, headaches/migraines, dysautonomia, whiplash, TMJ, IBS, PTSD, anxiety, post concussion syndrome, and more..
Walter has worked as both an occupational therapist and massage therapist with people of all ages in a variety of settings and populations including: hospital rehabilitation, early intervention, schools, a multidisciplinary integrative medical center, and a pediatric sensory clinic. He has worked with adults with neurological and orthopedic conditions as well as children with developmental delays, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism, CP, and multiple handicaps. He is a former competitive boxer and former karate instructor. He currently studies tai chi and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
